Austin, Texas is one of the most eclectic cities in the U.S. Austin is also one of the friendliest and and most enjoyable places to live.
Austin is not only the capital city of Texas, Austin is the city for the University of Texas. Austin is a "high tech" city, with companies such as Dell Computer and Motorola. And to the surprise of newcomers, Austin is also an entertainment city, with recording studios and movie sets. Please see the following article in Forbes Magazine about Austin:

Austin offers a wide and contrasting range of venues for entertainment. For example, compare two very different places to have fun in Austin while enjoying superb music: The One World Theater provides an indoor setting where world famous musicians perform. There, every seat allows a close-up view. The Back Yard, on the other hand, is an outdoor theater with the stage built under a huge and very old oak tree. Musicians, whose styles vary from country to rock, enthrall audiences with thier loud and popular tunes.
The "Little" Colorado River runs through Austin. It originates west of Abilene and just north of Big Spring, Texas. The river meanders through the Texas Hill Country between LLano and Lampasas where it forms both Lake Buchanan and Lake LBJ. Then, just west of Austin, the Colorado and the famous Pedernales Rivers join. The Pedernales, which originates west of the quaint old German town of Fredrecksburg and runs through Johnson City, combines with the Colorado to create the beautiful, clean, sixty-five mile long Lake Travis. Guests at the Oasis Restaurant come to enjoy the magnificent sunsets over Lake Travis and listen to local musicians sing their versions of Garth Brooks or Willie Nelson songs while enjoying a locally brewed beer and eating Mexican cuisine.
As the Colorado winds through Austin, it forms Lake Austin. Homeowners and their guests enjoy awesome Hill Country views from homes that nestle near all these lakes. The river forms Town Lake after passing by the old Austin Country Club.
Austin has a golf history quite unique and has produced such fine golf names as Ben Crenshaw and Tom Kite, not to mention their mentor, Harvey Pennick. Golf courses abound throughout the surrounding Hill Country and near both Lake Travis and Lake Austin.
The styles of the homes in the Austin area range from Tuscan to Tudor, and from Colonial to Contemporary. Many of these homes use a stone whose name is the same as the city...Austin Stone...a beautiful and sturdy sandstone that is both practical and decorative because of the variation of the colors.
Austin, of course, is also surrounded by Hill Country Ranches. Longhorn cattle and other exotic animals can be seen roaming the range on some of the most beautiful ranches in the world.
